Ask the 150+ New York City students I have helped go on to college, students who have earned over $1 million in scholarships/grants, and you will get an idea of how important education is to my idea of the “American Dream”. Education is why my parents brought me to this country when I was 6 years old. It is why created an award-winning startup. Education is why I have dedicated the past decade of my life helping mostly low-income, first-generation students prepare for and earn scholarships for college.
But according to the statutes of this country I love, I am not American enough. Throughout most of those years and accomplishments, I was an unauthorized immigrant.
The lives of millions of unauthorized immigrants and their family members are in the balance with the possibility of losing DACA. Many U.S. citizens and permanent residents miss out on the impact and innovation that expanded DACA and DAPA-eligible people could provide.
